Learn Tagalog
the polyglot way.
Tagalog is the foundation of Filipino, connecting you to over 110 million people across the Philippines and one of the largest diaspora communities in the world. Mynago teaches it through real dialogues, cultural depth, and grammar that makes sense.
Why Tagalog needs a different approach
The focus system is unlike anything in European languages
Tagalog verbs change form depending on which part of the sentence is in "focus," the actor, the object, the location, or the beneficiary. This is completely foreign to English speakers. Mynago teaches it through natural dialogue patterns, so you develop intuition rather than memorizing abstract rules.
Everyone speaks English (so why bother?)
Most Filipinos speak English fluently. This makes Tagalog easy to avoid but incredibly rewarding to learn. Speaking Tagalog signals genuine respect and opens doors that English alone never will. Real conversations, family connections, and cultural understanding require Tagalog.
Spanish and English loanwords everywhere
Tagalog absorbed thousands of Spanish words over 300 years of colonial rule, plus English from American influence. "Kumusta" (como está), "silya" (silla), "trabaho" (trabajo). This is an advantage if you know Spanish, but the grammar is Austronesian through and through.
Formal vs colloquial is a canyon
Textbook Tagalog and spoken Tagalog are dramatically different. Real Filipino conversation is packed with Taglish (Tagalog-English code-switching), slang, and shortened forms. Mynago teaches the language people actually use, not just the version in grammar books.
How Mynago teaches Tagalog
Lessons built around your life
Visiting your partner's family in Manila? Working with Filipino colleagues? Exploring the provinces? Mynago generates lessons around your real situations, not tourist phrasebooks.
CEFR-aligned vocabulary
Lessons follow CEFR levels A1 through B2, building vocabulary that maps to internationally recognized proficiency standards.
Natural pronunciation
Neural TTS voices model natural Filipino speech. Tagalog pronunciation is relatively straightforward for English speakers, but stress placement changes meaning entirely.
Focus system through context
You learn actor-focus, object-focus, and locative-focus verbs through real dialogues. When you hear "binili ko" vs "bumili ako" in a market scene, the distinction becomes natural.
Spaced repetition (FSRS)
The FSRS algorithm schedules reviews at the optimal moment. Learn vocabulary efficiently and retain it long-term with minimal daily effort.
Cultural fluency built in
Po/opo respect markers, mano gesture, family terms (ate, kuya, tita, tito), and bayanihan culture. Real cultural knowledge woven into every lesson.
Practice by calling Hibiki
Reading dialogues builds comprehension. Holding a real voice conversation builds fluency. Call your mascot in Tagalog and work through scenarios out loud. The AI remembers what you said and responds in voice.
